MindMap AI

Free AI Document Summarizer

Extract key sections, findings and conclusions from a text-based PDF document.

Summarize a document around findings and decisions

The document summarizer is intended for complete, text-based PDF documents where readers need more than a list of isolated topics. It organizes purpose, major sections, findings, conclusions and recommended actions into a visual overview.

Use this mode for business reports, proposals, policy documents and formal papers. Compared with the general PDF tool, the emphasis is on understanding the document as a finished piece of work: why it exists, what it establishes and what readers are expected to do next.

Documents that benefit from an executive overview

Business reports

Connect objectives, performance evidence, risks, conclusions and management recommendations.

Proposals and plans

Map the problem, proposed approach, resources, milestones, expected outcomes and open decisions.

Policy documents

Separate scope, requirements, responsibilities, exceptions and implementation guidance.

Formal papers

Review the stated purpose, major sections, findings and qualifications before close reading.

A document-level view of the source

The mind map aims to preserve the document's broad logic. Branches can represent its purpose, major sections, evidence, decisions and implications, with supporting points nested beneath the relevant part of that structure.

This makes the result suitable for an initial executive review or discussion agenda. It is not an official executive summary unless a responsible reviewer confirms that the selected points and priorities match the organization’s needs.

  • Purpose, audience and scope when stated
  • Major sections and the findings associated with them
  • Conclusions, recommendations and unresolved questions
  • An editable overview for review and discussion

Review a formal document responsibly

Identify the document version

Confirm the date, revision and status before summarizing so a draft is not mistaken for an approved final document.

Keep section context

Headings help distinguish background, evidence, recommendations and appendices and should remain in the readable PDF text.

Verify consequential details

Check obligations, thresholds, dates, costs and named owners in the original document before acting on them.

Adapt the map to its audience

After generation, emphasize the branches relevant to executives, project teams, reviewers or other intended readers.

Document support and governance

This version accepts text-based PDF documents up to 10MB and 50 pages, with a maximum of 40,000 extracted characters. It does not accept Word files directly, perform OCR or unlock protected PDFs.

A generated overview has no approval status. Contracts, policies, compliance material and official plans must be interpreted from the controlling document and reviewed through the organization’s normal legal, governance or quality process.

Frequently asked questions

Does it support scanned PDFs?

Not yet. This version supports PDFs that contain selectable text and does not perform OCR.

What are the limits?

PDF files can be up to 10MB, 50 pages and 40,000 extracted characters in this initial version.

Is the PDF uploaded first?

No. Text is extracted locally in the browser and only the extracted text is sent for generation.

What is the difference between Document Summarizer and PDF Summarizer?

Both currently accept readable PDFs. PDF Summarizer focuses on extracting and mapping general PDF content, while Document Summarizer emphasizes a formal document's purpose, sections, findings, decisions and recommendations.

Can I upload a Word or PowerPoint file?

Not in the current version. Convert an authorized copy to a text-based PDF first, then confirm that its text remains selectable and that the file is within the stated limits.

Can the output be treated as an executive summary?

It can be a useful draft overview, but an accountable reviewer should confirm priorities, wording and omitted details before it is distributed as an official executive summary.

Is it safe to rely on the summary of a contract or policy?

No automated summary should replace the controlling document or qualified review. Verify every obligation, exception, deadline and definition in the original before making a legal or compliance decision.
